Tuesday Night Show with Gladys Knight
Show starts at 8:00 p.m. in Washington Convention Center

After a full day of educational programming and networking, kick back and enjoy the Tuesday Night Show with Gladys Knight. One ticket to the show is included in your full conference registration or guest registration. Additional tickets at $50 each maybe purchased on the registration form or on-site. Registrants will receive a coupon that must be exchanged on-site in Washington, D.C. for an entrance ticket.

Gladys Knight is a legendary American R&B/soul singer and actress. She is best known for the hits she recorded during the 1960s and 1970s with her group Gladys Knight & the Pips. The act became popular with hits such as "Midnight Train to Georgia," "I've Got to Use My Imagination," and "You're the Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me." While still with The Pips, Knight also joined with Dionne Warwick, Stevie Wonder, and Elton John on the 1986 AIDS benefit single, "That's What Friends Are For." In 1989, Gladys Knight recorded the title track for the James Bond movie "Licensed to Kill." Her solo record, "Just for You," went gold and was nominated for the 1995 Grammy Award for Best R&B Album. Knight's 2001 hit song, "At Last," won the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance.

The SHRM guest program entitles your spouse or guest to attend the Sunday opening general session, access to The HRM Marketplace Exposition, the Tuesday Night Show and the closing general session on Wednesday. A Special Look at Washington

This tour will leave guests with a complete overview of our Capital City. This tour will include Federal Square, Lafayette Park, and the most famous address, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, better known as the White House. Guests will travel down the parade route of Pennsylvania Avenue passing the Federal Triangle government buildings, the FBI Building, the landmark Old Post Office, and the U.S. Capitol Building. Before leaving Capitol Hill guests will have the opportunity to view, the Supreme Court, and the Library of Congress.

Capitol Hill—The Pulse of Our Nation

Capitol Hill is the center of activity in our Nation's Capital. This tour takes guests of SHRM to the U.S. Capitol Building where they will tour the public areas of the magnificent building, including the Statuary Hall, which served as the House of Representatives' Chamber until 1857. Guests will also view the Rotunda area, old Senate and Supreme Court Chambers.

Monuments by Moonlight

Perhaps the most enchanting way to enjoy the sights of Washington is to do so by moonlight. The tour guide will share fascinating facts on our city's illuminated monuments and landmarks as guests enjoy champagne and delicious desserts served by a waiter in tuxedo. In this all-encompassing night tour of Washington, guests will pass such sights as the White House, the U.S. Capitol Building, the Supreme Court Building, the Library of Congress, the Old Post Office Building and the Washington Monument. This evening serves as a truly elegant way to see this magnificent city.

The National Zoo and Baby Panda

Guests will have the opportunity to visit with the zoo's most popular residents, the Giant Panda family! The National Zoo houses many animals of military distinction as well. Grey seal, Selkie was donated to the National Zoo by the Naval Ocean System Center (NOSC). Known for its interactive demonstrations, the National Zoo may also teach guests the fine art of getting a four-ton Asian elephant to say, "Ahhh", roll over and play dead! A visit to the National Zoo would not be complete without exploring the zoo's Bald Eagle refuge, an exhibit to our national symbol. Home of musical great, Duke Ellington, Shaw was once known as "Black Broadway." Guests will also enjoy a look at the Lincoln Theatre, one of Washington's hidden treasures. Guests will travel to the lively Dupont neighborhood and Washington's hip Adams Morgan neighborhood, the Greenwich Village of Washington D.C., Adams Morgan is a veritable United Nations offering street shopping, sidewalk cafes, and just about any international restaurant you can think of.

Hillwood Museum with Gardens

Magazines and television stories about the lifestyles of the rich and famous are always popular. Visiting the home of one of America's untitled aristocrats is even more appealing than the tantalizing, vicarious glimpses the media offers. One of the most interesting is Marjorie Merriweather Post's Hillwood Museum. Guests will browse through the gardens, which are composed of lawns, formal French and Japanese gardens. This 25-acre landmark bordering Rock Creek Parkway also contains a small dacha or Russian summerhouse, and greenhouse with over 5,000 orchids.

"All aboard" for historic Annapolis, Maryland. This quaint waterfront community has welcomed travelers for over two hundred years. Originally the colonial capital, and currently Maryland's state capital and home of the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis offers visitors a unique blend of historical architecture and scenic maritime vistas. Colonial costumed guides will meet guests for a comprehensive walking tour, viewing the U.S. Naval Academy (the Chapel, John Paul Jones' tomb and Bancroft Hall), St. John's College, and the Maryland State House, which is the oldest state house still in use in the United States.
